Cherries

Yesterday we had another morning of cherry picking for our friends, and so returned home at lunchtime with lots of the fruit in payment.  So far this month I've made three jars of cherry jam and nine jars of cherries in brandy syrup (yum) and I'm almost running out of jars again.  I don't really want to actually buy any more jars as it would mean that my efforts weren't free, so we'll just have to force ourselves to sit there of an evening munching our way through them!

Our neighbour in the village has still got the builders on his facade, this is the third week now with scaffolding blocking the narrow street, and so we are still staying at the Mas.  In that time the weather has turned from lovely spring sunshine i.e. not to warm, just right, to full-blown summer sun that burns your legs if you try and sit in it.  Yesterday afternoon the blind was lowered on the outside of the lounge window to keep the worst of it out of the house, and dog walking now has to be done first thing in the morning or after our evening meal, but I much prefer to go early in the morning.  We shall definitely stay at the Mas for the rest of this week and then I don't know... although Steve doesn't seem in any particular hurry to come back to the village, and Jasper and I certainly aren't!

The other day we booked my son a flight to come and see us - he hasn't been before - but now that b****y ash cloud is beginning to mess things up again.  I've got my fingers crossed as I'm really looking forward to my son coming.
